Questionable (but ever so tasty) Soy Sauce

I’ve been living life gluten free (while ditching dairy as well) now since January this year and I have to say, it suits me well. I didn’t consume much gluten before but now I’ve turned it into a zero tolerance. Hence I’ve been avoiding soy sauce among other things. And boy has that been difficult and annoying! Until I recently found out that due to the mechanism soy sauce is prepared it’s practically gluten free. The Finnish Association of Celiac Disease reported about some Swedish research regarding the issue and they’ve given a recommendation that a celiac could eat soy sauce. PAR-TAY!

Anyway, I’ve been doing some testing with soy sauce and so far so good: haven’t had any symptoms what so ever after eating in a thai buffet or having some quality soy sauce at home. So I wouldn’t go crazy over it but I wouldn’t deny it either. Sashimi tastes so much better with some soy… Awwwh.

If you have different kind of experiences as a celiac, please share.

  2. I have used Tamari soy sauce for years, and it is always wheat free aka gluten free.

  3. Luolamies, yeps, got that and Yaelian, I have tamari as well 🙂 Still it’s easier in restaurants without carrying own soy sauce… And also, I adore the shoyu soy sauce which I have at house!
